Leadership Jobs

Translate our vision to help influence and grow others.

Leaders at Camp IHC don’t create followers, they create more leaders.

In a leadership role you’ll spend your summer helping others achieve their potential in their own role. The four main leadership roles at Camp IHC are Group Leaders, Head Counselors, Area Directors and Program.

  • Two groups leaders at summer camp

    Group Leader

Group leaders are responsible for small teams of camp counselors and the activity specialists. Each group of kids at camp has a group leader who is responsible for their bunks. As a group leader, you will live in a cabin with about 3-6 other camp counselors and between 8-16 campers and be their first point of contact each day.

The role of a group leader is to make sure campers and staff understand where they need to be and what they need to be doing. You will help iron out the small issues that come with groups of kids and will take any bigger issues to your head counselors.

For many young adults the progression from camp counselor to group leader is their first step into leading a team.

  • Male Head Counselor at Camp IHC

    Head Counselor

At Camp IHC we will challenge you and go above and beyond to help you fulfill your potential.

One of the most sought after positions at camp is a head counselor position. The role of a head counselor is to oversee a small number of group leaders and their bunks.

You will train the group leaders and camp counselors during staff orientation and you will also help coach them throughout the summer. This is a role that requires camp knowledge and a great deal of experience working with children.

Head counselors work closely with our Camp Directors and are typically the first point of contact for parents for smaller issues that don’t require a director to resolve.

  • Male basketball instructor giving drills to campers

    Area Director

Area directors are responsible for certain stand alone activity areas or a collective group of areas. For example we hire a Tennis Director to oversee our tennis program but we hire an Arts & Crafts Director to oversee our sewing, cooking, ceramics, woodwork, fine arts, rocketry & S.T.E.M programs!

Area directors are responsible for all the staff within that particular area and will also facilitate the planning, running and reviewing of their program area through-out the summer.

These roles require a great deal of experience in their particular field but also requires experience of leading teams and working with children.
